Pyhäjoki Culture Services

Pyhäjoki Culture Department organises cultural events within its own municipality, either independently or in close cooperation with organisations, neighbouring municipalities and a number of private individuals. In addition to events open to everyone, the Culture Department takes performances to early childhood education and care centres, schools and the sheltered home. The Culture Department also warmly welcomes visitors to events in Pyhäjoki!

Art groups at   Raahe Adult Education Centre enable and vitalise the cultural offering in Pyhäjoki with regard to visual arts and amateur theatreYlivieskan seudun musiikkiopisto music institute provides basic teaching in music. the Pauhasali Auditorium at Pyhäjoki Upper Secondary School serves as a performance venue for concerts and plays alike.

Residents in the municipality can also freely suggest the types of events they would like the Culture Department to arrange. Let us know!

Cultural activities in municipalities are regulated by Act 166/2019. The objectives of the Act are to:

  • support people’s opportunities for engaging in creative expression and activity
  • provide opportunities for producing and experiencing culture and art
  • promote equal opportunities for all population groups, and further their participation in culture, arts and education
  • strengthen people’s health and wellbeing, as well as their inclusion and community engagement
  • create conditions for developing local and regional vitality and
  • to promote international activities.
