Wellbeing work in Pyhäjoki

A municipality has a duty to promote the wellbeing of its residents. This duty is carried out in all municipal services in cooperation with the associations operating in the municipality, local residents and the operators in the Pohde wellbeing services county. Wellbeing work aims to promote the good life, health and safety of local residents. Together with the municipal strategy, health promotion measures and policies that support well-being create a framework for wellbeing work.

A wellbeing report is prepared during the term of office of each council to guide target-driven wellbeing work. An annual wellbeing review assesses the previous year's activities and describes the key themes and measures for the coming year as part of the budget process.

The extensive wellbeing report is supplemented by plans for children, young people and the elderly. In Pyhäjoki, these plans will be completed by the end of 2024.

The municipal executive board heads wellbeing work, with operational management responsibility resting with the Director of Education, Elina Vehkala, in close cooperation with the sports instructor-wellbeing coordinator.

The HYTE coefficient is an incentive related to central government transfers to local government, under which the active promotion of municipal health and wellbeing is also reflected in additional funding for the municipality.
